Headteacher's Welcome

Headteacher's Welcome

 adam blackwood

I am very proud to be Headteacher here at Burton Salmon, a small school making a big impact upon the lives of our pupils.

Our school is a safe, welcoming and nurturing setting that offers a sense of belonging to pupils and families alike. With a legacy of over 100 years of history our school successfully retains a sense of tradition, whilst continuing to develop a culture of innovative and inspirational teaching and learning. Our collaborative working with other local primary schools, ties to a number of high schools and a varied programme of regular offsite visits all help to ensure that pupils have equal access to the wider experiences offered by larger settings.

We are ambitious for all our pupils and believe that our emphasis on high quality teaching is a key feature of our success. Whilst we are proud of the high levels of achievement shown by our pupils in formal assessments and national testing we also recognise that it is our duty to ensure that our young people flourish in a holistic way as well as an academic one. Our pupils are polite, confident and supportive of their peers. Staff, pupils and visitors alike all comment on the ‘family feel’ of our school and while we are a growing school we pride ourselves on knowing each and every child as the individual characters they are.

Our moto of ‘Happy learning for a healthy future’ is evident throughout school at all times. Lessons are challenging and aspirational but also creative, stimulating, inclusive and fun. Our fantastic outside environment means pupils will often be found working outdoors on a variety of projects. Ties to the local community also mean we benefit from visits from everyone from the local farmer to the parish vicar. Equally we regularly welcome visitors from further afield such as representatives from faith communities, visiting authors and professional sports coaches.

We hope this website gives you a flavour of our school, for a full picture of what we do please don’t hesitate to get in touch and make arrangements to pay us a visit. Our door is always open to guests and our pupils are always keen to tell just what a wonderful time they have here with us!

All the best,

Adam Blackwood
